to the 1930 census, the African-American population
consisted of:
Clergy (25,084)
Musicians (10,583)
Nurses
(5,728)
Physicians (3,805)
College Presidents/Professors (5,126)
Dentists (1,746)
Lawyers/Judges (1,230)
One
would never know this if one were to view African
Americans as they were portrayed in films during that
era. UNLESS one were to view a film by Oscar
Micheaux
No
race of people can be well-served by allowing their
portrayals to be controlled by another race of people.
If
you’re unsatisfied with the way the people who
resemble you are portrayed in the media, and you’re
unwilling to support those who can portray you
accurately…
You
have no right to complain!
