Current Film Projects

The Micheaux Foundation believes in making films, not excuses. “Don’t Complain…Compete” is an organizational philosophy that we instill in all of our affiliated filmmakers and trainees. The mission of telling the stories that would not otherwise be told is too important to be distracted by complaining about what “Hollywood” won’t do for filmmakers of color. Whatever “Hollywood” can do for filmmakers of color, filmmakers of color are capable of doing for ourselves!

With each film, another story is being told that would not normally be seen, more filmmakers are honing their skills with valuable hands-on experience.

Current Projects:

“I.S.O., In Search Of…” is a 20 minute “mini-feature” film that we produced and shot on location in Washington, D.C. 1995.  It’s a uniquely D.C. story about Roland, a Capitol Hill staffer, tired of his typically insular Capitol Hill staffers’ social life. Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to meet a woman with no connection or aspirations to Capitol Hill so that he can avoid “talking shop” on every date? He is persuaded by a friend to place an ad in the Washington Post Personals. He meets a woman who rocks his world with her package of looks, intelligence, wit, and social grace. Surely he’s met his mate, but is she who he thinks she is?

“Thru My Eyes” is in its final stage of production and is being shot on location in Washington D.C., Baltimore, and New York City. “Thru My Eyes” has a POV-Camera view through the eyes of Mike Taylor, a recent law school graduate trying to survive in New York as he tries to land his first attorney job. The story displays some of the little insults, slights, and inconveniences that every African American male learns to live with on a daily basis. He gets dissed at another interview, mediates another of many heated political discussions at lunch with his two best friends who are of polar political positions, but the events of this night set them apart from anything that has happened to any of them in the past.
ADDED FEATURES:
-Take a look at some of the Behind-the-Scene pictures of the movie.
-Also look at the Director's Commentary over the movie.

“Who’s Crazy Here?” was produced on location in Washington, D.C. and Maryland and the screenplay was adapted from a Joyce Wiley stage play of the same name. It’s a story about an aggrieved spouse who finally takes action against her philandering husband. She invites the mistress to their home to surprise her husband! The shocking confrontation climaxes a story which features some exceptional acting performances from director Kevin Jiggetts as the husband and Dawn Ursula as the aggrieved spouse.
